Surface Design Conference in San Antonio

The Surface Design Association Conference was incredible, from the tour of the President Jane Dunnewold's Studio to the final talk, it was all very inspiring.  Meeting Otto Von Busch, an instructor at Parson's School of Design, was special to me since I'm in my first ever Fashion Week with my fascinator hats.

Attending these special conferences really inspire me.  I hope I can go again when the conference is in Tulsa, OK.  Thanks to everyone who contributed and volunteered their time for a successful event.

The College World Series is happening as we speak in Omaha, my town.  It's always a great event.  We have an ad in the Omaha Magazine so that when folks have some free time, they can take a little ride to Exit 440 off of I-80 and go 6 miles to our studio and gallery at 183 Main St, Springfield,NE. Should be a fun week.

I have been busy creating fascinator hats for Omaha Fashion Week.....fun, fun.....Last night was the final Model call for potential models for the event in August.  My pieces will be modeled by 8 models during the VIP reception and at the reception area on Thursday, August 22.  It's exciting!  I am learning a lot about preparing for this large event.  Tomorrow evening I meet with the interviewers to discuss my progress with the hats....The designers are divided into teams and we will all be in the discussion together..It will be a great learning experience I am sure.  This is my first time to particpate in such an event....Wish me luck!

Great Week

We have had a great week at Springfield Artworks. There was a ribbon cutting on Main Street for 6 new businesses. Wow, must be a record. A great article was in the Omaha World Herald about all the new businesses and we were quoted. Also I met with the Producer of Omaha Fashion week to go over some details about the production. I will have 8 models with 8 different hats and accessories... Pretty exciting! Mark your calendars for August 19-24. Not sure which date I will be showing but should know by first of June.

August Omaha Fashion Week

I'm in....had an interview last week and yesterday was notified that I was accepted to showcase my fascinator hats and wedding memory scarves.  Had our first meeting tonight.....Great evening. I'm excited.

Thursday Alan Trembley will be on the Omaha Morning Blend show sharing news about our weekend event for Brides and Mom's this weekend....Be sure and stay tuned from 9-10am central.

Winter Springfield Artworks

Springfield Artworks re-opened today after a winter break. We have traveled over 3000 miles by car through 12 states visiting suppliers, etc.  The real goal was for Glenn to take a class from Brad Walker in North Carolina. As always, he loves Brad's classes... Brad is the guru of Fused Glass processes. Glenn cherishes his books that were written by Brad.

Interesting weather, lovely scenery and tired artists, but we survived the trip.  My phone camera was always ready to snap photos of barns, interesting bridges and food.

Class at Brads

Glenn is ready for his class at Brad Walkers tomorrow. He is learning a new technique. He'll have a good time I'm sure. Then he'll return home in time for his valentine class for guys only making fused glass bracelets for their honey.
